I think there is an issue with playing certain flavors of Canon HDV on a Sony HDV deck (can you say proprietary?).

Specifically 24 frame, but may apply to other frame rates as well.

Note that the only important settings when you capture to ProRes are the capture preset and the device control. The fact that my screen grabs show a sequence preset in AJA uncompressed 8 bit or whatever is unrelated to doing this kind of capture.

On your Sony (in my case Z5), in VCR mode, set i Link to OFF.
