Ok, I just finished capturing a clip from a full size tape – DV NTSC 48k – into FCP 5.1.2 on a Mac G5. The clip is about 2 hours and 45 minutes – about 35 gigs. However, when In the Browser in FCP – The duration is only 37 minutes!! Yet when i preview it in Finder in its capture scratch folder the entire 2 hours and 45 minutes is there and plays through fine! The whole clip also plays fine in Quicktime. Why is only 37 minutes of this clip only registering in FCP? I even tried importing the capture scratch DV file, and manually dragging it from finder into FCP and it still only shows up and plays as a 37 minute clip. Anyone have any thoughts? Please help.

I am also having the same problem when capturing HDV footage 1080-50i. After capturing an hours worth of footage the clip only shows 4 or 5 secs worth in the bin and when I reveal in finder and play through quicktime the whole hour is available. I have deleted the file from the bin, closed FC, reopened and re-imported the clip to find it shows the full hour. Then when I next open the project it has reverted to 4 or 5 secs again and repeating the importing process doesn’t work.
Does anyone know what might be going on?? Or if you have encountered this problem, how is it corrected/ avoided??
    Thanks
    JB
