In older versions of FCP there was a setting in the capture preset setup where you could turn on the speaker when capturing. You accessed it by an advanced button in the audio area of the tab. There was also an advanced button for video changes.

In FCP 6 I only see the advanced button for video. The audio advanced button which would allow you to turn on the speaker for monitoring during capture is no longer there.

Does anyone know of another method to activate the speaker during capture?

Is it not in the clip settings tab like in FCP 5? In the audio area of the tab there is a check box that says preview. It will also default to off every time you open the window for obvious reasons. You aren’t supposed to digitize media with the apple computer speaker on. It can easily cause problems with your capture. You should be monitoring audio through your caputre card, or in the case of firewire capture, through the output of your deck. The preview check box is there just to make sure it’s making it to your computer.

BTW The tab I’m talking about is in the log and capture window/dialog.
