Thanks Mark – yes, I did work that out eventually and it did the job. Not sure about time codes though – are they going to be necessary as I progress through the stages of completing the film?

I’ll defer to Walter, but if this happens to me, and it’s a small chunk, I’ll just export the troubled section with extra-large handles on the ends,re-import that, and live with the new time code it caries from then on. I can’t rememeber the last time I needed to revisit an EDL or re-import from original tape, it must be years now. Obviously, if my source material was transferred film, this would be a much bigger deal to me.

But you know, I’m still learning new things about FCP every day, and if there’s a way to force new, particularly-set time code onto said troublesome clip, such that it really *does* link back to the original footage… well, I’m interested in learning how to do that.

I guess things can go wrong, hence the need to recapture, but I know my material pretty well as it was all logged when I shot it, so I know where it is on the tape…

Hi, I have a question about my capture “now” button. I just some sort of power serge. I’m unsure if it was a serge or not though. So any way my button has always worked before this happened but now it won’t. I’m able to go through the whole process, like hitting “apple 8” for capture. It loads the video or whatever and I can see it paused on the capture screen. But I click “now” and nothing happens. No window comes up, the mouse doesn’t do the spinning wheel or anything. Can you help me?
