I recently upgraded to a Sony F-Series Core i7 laptop and loaded Vegas Pro 10 64bit. No problems loading and editing old projects. My problem is that, connecting via firewire, Vegas is recognizing my old Canon XL-1 camcorder as a source deck to capture dv video clips, but won’t recognize my Panasonic AG-DV1000, which worked fine with older versions of Vegas and my older single core desktop and dual core laptop. I’ve searched through the trouble-shooting sections of the Vegas manual and can’t seem to identify a solution. Ideas anyone?

If Panasonic doesn’t offer an updated firewire driver, try this method.

Go to Device Manager and find your firewire device.
Update drivers and select the option where you can choose from a list.
Choose the firewire driver that is not being used.

Thanks Mike. I did that and the computer sees the device and says the driver is the most current one, but Vegas can’t capture or preview from that device. No problem with the camcorder, it works fine. They’re both about equally old. The program sees the device but doesn’t properly identify it and won’t open it.
