    Hello:

I have a problem with 2.0 where I cannot capture from my DVX100B at all. I use the same drivers, settings, etc., that I use with 1.5, which works beautifully when I back out of 2.0, then go into 1.5. I get the message “Can’t activate recorder — try resetting camera” message. I have called Adobe, opened up a support case, done troubleshooting, to no avail. I have tried most everything: setting permissions to the 1394 IEEE folder in regedit, reset (deleted) the IEEE 1394 folder in regedit, then re-plugged in camera, DV cable, etc., again to no avail. Tried deactivating all background programs and services, rebooting, then trying: nothing doing. None of the controls (play, FF, rewind, etc.) are selectable. I use the DVX100P driver (same as in 1.5), drop-frame, setting, although I have tried every other setting as well. Does not work. But again, I can back out and go into 1.5, same machine, same conditions, and it works beautifully.

On the Adobe forum, someone said he had same problem, but de-installed Pinnacle software and it works. I do not have any pinnacle software. And, I have tried, as mentioned, de-activating all background apps, etc., via the winconfig app (I believe that’s the one I used), and then trying it: nothing.

    Any suggestions?

Oh, BTW, I have also reinstalled PP 2.0 twice, and to no avail.

Does your system recognize the camera?

    I’ve seen this Q asked a lot…I have PP2.0 and do not have a problem, my camera is DVX-100a (100b shouldn’t matter).

Aanarav asked – does your system recongize your camera? To find out…shut down all apps…plug your camera in the firewire port…turn camera on…wait a moment say 15 seconds…did you here a “ding dong” sound?….if yes, you will be prompted to choose a program to open…choose PP2.0…………now if you did not here the “ding dong” sound…then your system did not recongize your camera…turn camera off and try another firewire port…and proceed with same procedure..

    hope this helps!

Well, the “Check Status” button on the Settings tab says “Detected”, but that’s about it. All of the controls (FF, Rew, etc.) are greyed out, with exception of the Record and Stop button, which appear to be selectable, but nothing works. NO video in monitor window, etc.

Oh, yea, it recognizes it…as mentioned, I can back out and into 1.5 and capture film all day. But yes, I even deleted the IEEE 1394 driver folder in regedit, then plugged everything in after shutting down and rebooting, and the system rebuilt the driver and recognized the camera in the sense you are saying (the “doo doo” sound, etc.).
