  • Capture HDV1080i in FCP??

Posted by Andy Chapman on September 23, 2009 at 6:23 pm

I’m shooting with a Sony HDR-FX7 in 1080i. When I try to catpture it in Final Cut I have complete control of the deck, but it will not recognize any footage (or capture it for that matter). My camera output settings are in HDV, I’ve also tried with i-link conv. on and off. Any thoughts?

Well after I posted I got to looking at the settings in FCP. IT’s set on (DV NTSC 48 kHz). THe only HD setting availible is (DVCPRO HD 1080i60) which obviously doesn’t work. Is there another setting I should set it on? THe Version of FCP I’m using is Version 4.5. Is this system not capable of capturing the HDV I’m shooting in?

Yes it is not capable. (Don’t you love the English language. I could have said “No it is not capable” and everyone would have understood the double negative did not apply)

Sorry Andrew, Vers 5.1 was the first FCP version to support HDV. We are now up to version 7 btw.
