    Capture HDV to DNxHD?

    Hey there,

    just a quick question to the more experienced Avid-guys.
    Coming from FCP I would never edit HDV native and always convert it to ProRes while capturing.
    So, my gut tells me I should do it equally on the Avid, so capture directly to DNxHD, since it should be reasonably faster and HDD-space is not an issue.

    Can anyone confirm that?

    What version of Avid are using and what hardware do you have?

    Hey Andrew,

    It’s an Avid Media Composer installed on a G5-system equipped with a Composite-Mojo.
    I will prepare the system on Monday, so I can choose the version of OS and I think we have a dongle for MC 3, not sure if it’s a 4-version already.
