  • Capture HDV from a SONY HVR-Z1U using Final Cut Pro 5

I am trying to Capture HDV from a SONY HVR-Z1U, using Final Cut Pro 5 on an Intel base MacBookPro.

When I log and capture clips i am told the capture was successful. When i go to the browser window however, the clips are still “off line”.

In the capture scratch folder there are two quick time files (i.e. ‘untitled’ & ‘untitled-1’) but they can not be played. When opened a pop up says “The movie could not be opened – the file is not a movie file.” This happens when opened in QT and in FCP.

    A/V Controls:
    Sequence Preset: HDV 1080i60
    Capture Preset: HDV
Device Control Preset: Sony HDV Fire wire.

I have used both the HDV “easy setups” and tried custom variations. Capturing with the “HDV – Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60” Works, but I can not use the log and capture window.

I have had no luck with trashing my FCP preferences and deleting QT receipts.

I know its Friday night but, if any one could help, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    _rich
