Please apologize my pore English i am not a native speaker, and i hope you can understand my Problem out of this text!

I always use tapes in the past! My workflow is more music related so what we do that we make the music mix before we do the video cut! The reason for that is that we first have to choose the best played parts out of a Production (maybe from a piano) an then i can use the matching 100% syncable video material!
We always recorde with a timecode slave running Nuendo system! That means that we already have broadcast waves with vidoematching timecode!

When the audio cutting ist done, I get the selected waves (played without mistakes) with the unchanged origin Timecode. I import this files into a Project an export a stack-list! I open this stacklist in Excel and change all the data (Filename, tapename…..) so when i import them back to my Project i get offline Chips! In the old workflow it was easy to capture the automatically with a deck!

    Now finally my Problem!
Now i have three new HPX2000 an that means thats all P2 Data! is it Possible to do the same way (workflow) explained with Virtual P2 drives?

    Hope you can help me

Sorry, but P2 does not work that way. Nor does any file based media. If you really want to continue your current method, you need to work from tape based media, not file based.

But why can you batch an capture more than one offline via L&T into QT converted clips from P2 files and its automatically opens the Log & Tranfer window and not the Log an capture Window! Whats the difference between a offline clip form a Tape or from a Virtual P2 Card? There is no Info in the Clip details!

Sounds like you need the use of P2 Metadata. It is pretty extensive.

From what I can gather, you do an audio cut with timecode. Once that is done, you use the video from the best audio and then you start the video part of the edit, is that correct?

yes thats right! I thought i can solve the Problem with a Tool From MXF 4 Mac its Called P2 Flow! It can great Virtual Tapes from a punch of p2 Scenes on a virtual P2 Card with a constant Timecode! Now you dont have to L&T it any more but you still have to fill in the right timecodes by copy paste them out of the audio created stack list! I have a 2 hour Concert DVD produced with 156 houres of Material and almost 700 audio cuts from different scenes! This are a lot of audio-events and it would not be ins sync when I use a wrong pice of Video! Its Classic and they change the Speed all the time in case of different interpretations of scores!! Why would Meta data help me?

That only works if you already imported the clip, and then took the media offline. The metadata for the clip is there, including the path to the media that it needs to wrap. When you batch capture, it is just re-acquiring what you already had done in the past. You cannot create clips from log notes and batch import. Tapeless doesn’t work that way. Sorry.

The Metadata and how FCP interprets it.

[Christoph Feiel] “There is no Info in the Clip details!”

Sure there is. Original file name (not the 00045GH.mxf number…that is the original clip name. The original FILE name is a 32 character name that is buried in the metadata. Without that, you can’t “batch capture.”

Your workflow is very tape based. If you want to work tapeless, then it is time to develope a new workflow.

Do your camera and audio tc match?

If so you can watch this presentation on which I did a 5 camera shoot and separate system audio and had it all in sync in about 10 minutes.

    https://www.macvideo.tv/editing/features/index.cfm?articleId=3200691

This will allow you to at least get everything on a timeline with video and separate audio in sync. You can then edit from there, but you will have to take the video with you (which allows you to not have to capture any tapes since all of your media is always available and online).

Now let me see if i understand this! ^^
The good thing is that i already copy my P2 Files files to my San every time one 32 GB card is full on every Camera! OK…i let is copy by my staff *g*! so i already have the full material on a Hard drive! So when i use the MXF4mac Tool it will cost me no more HD space! Is that right!? Cool! How much is it in Euro?
So i have to change my workflow? how? How can i get the Timecodes as “In and Out-Points” from the used audio-events into my MXF P2 files metedata in a fast way?
Is there a tool (have to be a XML editor) like excel where i can “copy paste” more than one Timecode pair (In and out Point) to the same number of P2 Clips(same order like the Audio martial)?

Cool to talk to people how now what they doing! Hard to find them!
