Our Firestore recorder was out for repair so I had to record a meeting on tape with our HDX900. I’m going from the 900 to Premiere via firewire. I cannot see any video in the capture window or hear audio through my system, although it shows on the vu meters. However, when I do hit record to capture it does indeed capture both. The only Capture Format choices I found are DV and HDV. I tried both. What do I need to do to see and hear them in the capture window and through my system?

    You want the HDV option.
Did u try having cam on and FW attached b/4 launching app?
    Try turning off deck control.

    Hi Chris,
Thanks for responding! I did have it on and fw plugged in beforehand. I have it set to HDV and deck control is off. I basically tried every variation I could think of including rebooting. I just tried capturing in FCP7 and that worked just fine. I could see video and hear audio during capture. Fortunately 99% of the time we record to hard drive and the tape is only used as an instant archive. But it would be nice to know how to get this to work when I need it.

I’m still trying to figure this one out. If I set it to “DV” the capture window shows time code running and it says it’s playing but the capture screen is black and no audio. I went ahead and captured anyhow and lo and behold it captured both video and audio even though the capture screen was blank and silent. I’d greatly appreciate any ideas.
