Forgive the noob question here. For years I used PPro, and love the feature to be able to capture to the folder the project was in. We have 3 FCP5 boxes that we’re going to connect via a common server. We’d like to just be able to edit straight off the server. I did some searching around and I’m afraid I already have the answer (that I don’t want) but I just want to confirm it.

Is there a way to tell FCP to capture to the folder that the project is contained in?

Obviously, we’d like to work completely off the server… and if all that is on the server is the footage, with no projects… the other editors can’t really do much. Thanks for the help.

Sure, just set your Capture Scratch to the Project Folder. This can cause slowdowns if you have too many Folders in Folders, but it does work. Better to just point to the harddrive and let FCP assign the folders.
