capture errors, fcp 6.0.3

The same happened to me… at the minute the 6.0.3 update was done everything got wrong with HDV capture AND export to tape.

As a revamp of our Dual G5 was scheduled before this issue occured, we decided to try a full new install : new “off the shelf” 320 Gig SATA drive, full Leopard install from scratch then update to 10.5.3, full Final Cut Studio install then update to 6.0.3… just in case !

And Bingo! HDV capture is now working again, although display is scratchy in the capture window for the first 5 seconds. Capture can be performed either in “log and capture” or in “capture now” mode. And we can again “export to tape” on our HDV deck.

The main remaining issue is that we have no longer the HDV display working (e. g. through a Sony HDV deck or camcorder connected with FireWire). And we still have an insecure feeling when working with this 6.0.3 version in HDV.

So if you haven’t done the update, you’d better wait a few days or weeks, the 6.0.4 should come soon and solve this issue.
