  • Capture DVCPRO HD 1080i 59.94 with Kona 3

I can’t seem to get these settings correct. I am trying to capture a DVCPROHD tape (1080i59.94)with a Panasonic AJ-HD1200A deck using a Kona 3.

Am I incorrect in thinking that it will ingest 1080p29.97? I’ve tried several options, even using Firewire to capture, but the resulting video is just not correct.

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks.

Use the AJA Kona 3 1080i DVCPro HD 29.97 setting.

Yes, can’t get 1080p from that deck. 1080psf yes, but that’s just 1080i to the Kona.

    Thank you Jeremy.

I was starting to suspect that it was the deck after the Kona Control Panel would not show me 1080p29.97, only 1080i29.97. I was second guessing myself though, as I’m not used to Panasonic decks, at least not this one with the crazy menu structure to change settings.

Anyways, time to call it a day.

    Thanks again.

No worries. If you shot “30p” then make sure to change the Field Dom Column to “none” in the FCP browser before you start editing, then make sure your timeline is set to non field rendering as well.

Then you will be working at 30p internally no matter if you monitor p or psf.
