Capture DV50 SD as ProRES
Hi,
I’m a little new to FCP, but I have a client that wants to capture Panasonic DVCPro50 tapes to ProRes HQ in SD. I have the Panasonic AJ-SD93 deck going firewire in to my macbook pro. I’m guessing that since I’m coming in firewire I can only go DV50 as that’s the native format on the tape. There don’t seem to be aby settings that allow me to capture to ProRESHQ. I’m using FCP 7.0

COrrect. To capture that format as ProRes, you need a capture card. Firewire allows for native format capture only, except in the case of HDV. But that is the only exception.
