I have a VHS tape in the VCR, feeding through a sony z1 (set to analog>dv) I can see the video playing on the cam LCD, and I can hear the audio through the pc, but can’t see the video for capture. If I flick between cap and advance I are a quick flash of the footage. Any help welcome. Thanks martin.

    Hi Martin,

Try a test capture and see if the footage shows when you have the clip in the computer. If it does, then you might have to live without the capture preview for this project. Use your camera for previewing.

VHS is an analog format so you need to go into VidCap (the Vegas capture utility), Options – Prefs – General and deselect Enable DV Device Control.
Remember to enable it again afterwards.
