    Hello,
I’m having problems when capturing hd footage. After capturing a 45 minute clip the duration on FCP is 00:00:00:00 and the in and out are the same but in the browser shows and plays the 45 minutes complete. I tried drag and drop back to FCP and still shows as 00:00:00:00 duration. Any ideas?
    Thanks

The “duration” tells you the time in-between your marked IN and OUT points on the clip.

If there are no marks, then the duration will be the total length of the clip.
If you dropped any IN and OUT marks on the clip, the duration number will reflect that.

    Thanks!
I understand what you mean but the clip shows up as 00;00 duration in black, there is not media at all to play or to mark in or out is just a frame of black. When I open the file from the browser in quicktime plays fine and with the full duration. Thanks for answering, any other ideas?

I am experiencing this now with Final Cut Pro 6. I have room on my hard drive. The full media is definitely there. Deleting and reimporting does not change the duration. For some reason this footage is not registering correctly.
