Hi Gary, Ed and the rest of the Cow Experts.

I’m using Vegas 6c. I’m trying to bring up the Capture dialog box that shows the Capture, Disk Management and the Print to Tape Tabs and then I can get into the options > preferences to make my changes. Instead, when I click onto the Capture Icon and get a dialog box showing Preferences at the upper left hand corner, next to it is the free space I have on my hard drive, to the far right shows Clip edit, Clip log and at the bottom is the Timecode In, Timecode out and the length. I don’t know how I got there, but I can’t get out. I want the normal Dialog box to capture my footage. Can you tell me how I can get back to normal.

    Thanks Everyone.

You do come with weird ones, don’t you Ralph 🙂
Is it possible that you’re somehow in the Advance Capture window because, as far as I know, some of the settings you describe only show up there.

You’re opening the Internal Capture, which is for HDV. You must have set that as the default. There is a setting in Preferences to change it to External Capture for DV.

    Hi Gary & Mike,

Your right Mike, I’m always trying to find a way to get myself in trouble with Vegas. Thanks to Gary, Ed, yourself (Mike) and the rest of the Fantasic Cow Experts throughout the world, I have you to bail me out :). Yes, that was the problem. I had the use external video capture unchecked. While watching Gary’s Fantasic Vegas 6 Companion DVD’s, by accident I unchecked that external video capture.

    Thanks again guys, 🙂

My thanks as well Gary. I’ve never opened that app until just now to see what it looks like.
