Premiere 2.0 and CS3 (just installed) not longer recognize my camera (Canon XH A1) or my Sony GV-D900 deck. No matter what sequence of connection I try or capture settings, it always says “capture device offline.” However, other capture programs do recognize the devices over firewire. Also, when I click the options button under device control, I no longer get the list of available devices. I assume a file has gotten trashed (although I would have thought that the install of CS3 would have restored it), but I have no idea of where to begin. Any suggestions?

    Many thanks in advance.

This is a common problem for me.
I actually expect failure of recognition between Camera and Premiere.
Make sure your Premiere project is a new project.
Twiggle Camera between on and off.
    Also twiggle fire wire connections.
Also be prepared to close down and start up computer.
If necessary after failure get new fire wire connection.
In my opinion Premiere does have difficulty recognising devices.

Funny, I never had any problems with Canon, Panasonic and Sony cameras or decks, and with different types, both DV and HDV. It must be something in your setup to cause those problems.

yeah, I know something must have changed, but I don’t know what. I cleared my preferences cache because of some other problems, but that shouldn’t have wiped out device control. But the fact that I don’t see the list of devices anymore suggests a file is gone or corrupted, but I don’t know where to go looking to restore it. Anybody know the name of the file?
