capture deck
can anyone suggest a good cheap deck that can download mini dv, dvcam SD tapes onto my hard drive. If there a deck that can also do HD let me know. thanks

The Sony HVR-M15u can record and capture DVCAM, DV and HDV.
It seems to be the HDV capable version of the venerable DSR-15. It can be had new for $1800 or so. I’ve used it and it worked fine.

For SD only, you can go with the Sony DSR-11 which is about as cheap as a VTR comes these days.
