September 1, 2009 at 10:27 pmI’m running several MXO2’s here and they are great. the quality is outstanding, especially the SD to HD upconvert in REALTIME during capture. also the MXO series can have the MAX option for h.264 faster then real time encoding. this alone pays for itself if you do any amount h.264 encoding like I do every day.its a really great time saver.
the difference between the models is basically all the Ins and Out. The RACK version has the most audio outs of anything around, the MXO2 is the middle product with pretty much everything I/O including HDMI, and the mini has fewer Ins and outs. different price ranges, different needs / markets. you couldn’t go wrong with a mini for basic component / HDMI I/O in Sd or HD. the middle priced MXO2 will cover most needs, and its portable. a Kona3 can’t be plugged into your laptop, or easily moved around for field AND studio use.
