Capture artifacts?
Every time I’ve opened up Premiere to capture footage in it, there are at least 3 distinct areas in the capture window that give blocky artifacting junk. Sony Vegas doesn’t show this when capturing, just Premiere. It’s as if the codec is corrupt? Don’t even know if that’s possible. I’m using a Canon GL2 as the deck and there’s nothing in the viewfinder that shows such artifacting.
What gives?

Are the artifacts also visible in the video after it is captured?

Some people raise this question about CS3 capture artifacts. I thought HDV capture is the same as DV oen and it is just a “tranfer process”, so it it really does not matter what software you use, the end results is the same. Am I off on this?Perry

My limited experience with capturing HDV is that it is not data transfer, but a conversion process. The captured file is not ready as soon as the tape ends, depending on the computers speed, the conversion continues for some time.

I don’t think so. The capture file is pretty much ready as soon as the tape ends, at least for me. I can play it immediately. I don’t think capturing with Premier vs others make a difference. I could be wrong. I wish someone can verify.
