Capture and output Settings
Hello,
I have a home movie shot in PAL format that I want to edit and author to DVD in NTSC format. Could you please tell me how to process to preserve the best quality? Should I capture in PAL or NTSC?

You will have to capture in PAL, Premiere won’t be able to talk to the camera unless the format setting matches.
Your best option is to edit the movie in PAL. You can then export an AVI or MPEG file from Premiere as NTSC. I can’t say how good the quality will be, as I’ve never tried it. Converting between NTSC and PAL isn’t always straightforward, but it’s easier going from PAL to NTSC than the other way around. You may need to flip the fields from lower to upper first (I forget which PAL uses). If it doesn’t turn out very well, you may want to export a PAL DV-AVI file and then find another program (like Canopus Procoder) to do the conversion.
