    Hello

    I’m working with FCP 4.5
    I v got a 4:3 monitor, a DSR-1500A (for DV)

I would like to capture from a DV casette in 16:9
(we shot with HD camera and tranfered on a mini DV).
and keep all the 16:9 images in a 4:3 screen
    without streching anything.

I tried to clic on the litlle anamorphic 16:9 square in the capture preset panel
of my audio/video setting, but the image still streche

What do I have to do ?

    Tank’s a lot for help

Your footage is probably anamorphic. You will have to switch your broadcast monitor into 16:9 mode.

Tank you for that qick answer Tod

but I have no setting for that on the TV monitor

and actually, the clip look streched too in the FCP Canvas

It become ok when I make it fit for the 4:3 sequence
    with the motion tab .

Have you an other idea to keep all the 16:9 clip from the cassette
and put it in a 4:3 sequence ??

Sounds like the DV-tape is not anamorphic, but letterboxed.
In that case. you shpuld edit in a standard sequence.

Well, if what you are saying is correct, and you’ve digitized all of your footage (sounds like it was dubbed in letterbox) in the 16×9 format and you want to edit in 4×3. Do you want the footage to be full frame or letterbox? If you want it to be full frame, then use these settings below:

    Motion Tab: Distort:

    Upper Left: -480 -240
    Upper Right: 480 -240
    Lower Right: 480 240
    Lower Left: -480 240
    Aspect Ratio: 0

This will convert all of your 16×9 footage to full frame 4×3. You have tow ways of doing this. One, edit in 16×9 without graphics and create a new timeline that’s 4×3 and drop your 16×9 timeline onto it and use the settings from above. OR, two, you can edit in a 4×3 timeline and drop the motion favorite (the setting from above) onto each and every clip.

    OK well,
    I feel stupid…
    that’s my mistake !!

    You were right gunleik
In fact they shoot on HD but the DV tape was transfered on 4:3
so I don’t need to edit on an 16:9 sequence…

I just have to do as usual !!

    tank’s
anyway your imfo will help me in the futur

    ciao
