    Hi everyone,

I have just finished editing a 10 min promo. It was an uncompressed 10 bit sequence which I played onto digi then digitized into Final Cut at Prores HQ. ( I did this because the 10 bit file was too big for he DVD Studio to encode)

When I play the Final Cut Pro movie file in Quick time player everything looks fine.

However as soon as I burn the movie onto a DVD all the captions look low quality. The edges aren’t defined and they look fuzzy as if they have a white noise like effect around them. Is there a way of fixing this?

ps: I get the same problem when I do a direct digi to DVD transfer using decks.

I have to deliver this DVD by tomorrow noon.

    Any ideas are much appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Zee 🙂

DVD compression (Mpeg2) is pretty poor quality, so graphics usually suffer. This is particularly the case with smaller text or thin fonts.

I would recommend that you try a different size or font to improve the DVD output – it can make a real difference.

i agree with everything Dave says except this:

[Dave LaRonde] “(you ought to try learning English sometime — it’s a pretty good language)”

Forgive him as that was incredibly rude. Unless you guys know each other, in which case flame on.

    Use Compressor.
