I’m still trying to get my HDV tapes captured half way decently, and really ticked at Sony for not correcting Vegas so it can capture properly. Anyway, I am getting an error message in CapDVHS that says “Cannot open output file” when I click on record. It does recognize my camera. Does anyone know of a manual for CapDVHS? TIA, Jim

Have you tried just turning off scene detection in the Sony capture? That’s what I do.

Yes, I turned off scene detection, and it helped a little, but not nearly enough. Are you able to capture successfully in Vegas? This is driving me nuts. Jim

John, do folks who use the HVR-MRC1 recording unit run into the same capture issues? Thanks, Jim

No, because there is no “capture”. The HVR-MRC1 is solid state recording. You just drag the files off of the flash card and start editing.

Yes. Sometimes the file will be split for some unknown reason but at least all of the frames are there so I just place them back on the timeline and everything is fine.

I am wondering if the tapes I used (SD Panasonic) contributed to the problem. Any thoughts? Jim
