canvas issues with fcp 5.1
If I turn off Mirror to desktop in the a/v settings of fcp 5, my canvas window doesn’t show the frame I stop playback on, as it did in 4.5. It will lock on a previous frame or turn green. I have to turn on mirror to desktop, or the canvas viewer window is useless (unless I don’t use external video viewing). 4.5 worked perfect. My machine is an upgraded g4, now 1.5 ghz with 1.5 gigs of ram and on the latest Tiger OS. I have another drive with 4.5 and the canvas works like it always did.. view through firewire to a monitor, and the canvas will show the last frame when you pause. Luckily the processor is fast enough to mirror to the desktop and playback.. but it bugs me that it isn’t working right. I appreciate your help.

Try trashing FCP prefs. When I’ve seen the dreaded green screen, this fixes it. Might fix the stopping problem too.

I did trash them.. but I’ll try again. I have that fcp rescue program that trashes at a click of a button.

Also how did you install FCP 5.1? Did you take the earlier version off first or? Might also post how you got to Tiger… if it wasn’t a clean install, that too could be part of this problem.

I started fresh.. installed Tiger as a fresh install.. did all the software updates.. then installed the universal final cut studio fresh. I was on 4.5 and Panther before. I am on a g4 upgraded to a mercury 1.5 gig processor. I posted on 2pop and another user has the same type of issue, and he’s on a g5…
