    Hi there,

just a little question: why can’t I replace media in Vegas 6?

I brought in an 35-frame image sequence which I rendered out from Maya. I later created a second version with a slightly different look and wanted this sequence to replace the original.

Now, when I try to replace the footage, all I get is the first frame. In the replace dialogue, I ticked that little box to tell Vegas to load the whole sequence, but the program just ignores it and loads only one frame.

    Any ideas?

What if you just delete the original one and then import the new sequence?

Sure, I could do that, but doing so would get me rid of all the EventFX I apllied to the footage, wouldn’t it?

    How about this:

    1) Pull in the new sequence
    2) COPY the old sequence
    3) Paste Event Attributes on the new squence
    4) Delete the old sequence
    5) Move the new sequence into the proper location

Yes, this is what I’d call a workaround.

But this raises the one question: why is there an option to replace footage in the first place? If no one seems to use it? I mean – is this a known issue?

I don’t typically use image sequences. I know that replace media DOES work (I’ve used it) but had never tried with an image sequence. On a quick test, it does appear to only pull in the first image even if the sequence box is checked.

Sorry to post this on an old message but this thread is top of the list on a Google search and could do with an answer.

For those who do wish to swap media locate the file under ‘project media’, right click on the file and select ‘replace’.
