  • Can’t REPLACE footage in project window

Posted by Ernie Geefay on July 21, 2008 at 4:45 pm

I am working in After Effects 7 on a Mac G5.
I have about 300 jpegs that have become unlinked from a project that we backed up and are now trying to restore.
When we opened the original project file all the missing stills are replaced by “color bars”
We attempted to do a “replace footage” in the project window.
Normally it not only finds the missing file but all other associated missing files too.
For some reason it won’t find any of the files…even the main one that we navigate too.
I can import the files but can’t get it to replace
    Any ideas

There was an issue with the file pathways in the early release of CS3 (AE8). that was fixed in an update. Check your version?
This feature works as expected on my Macintosh system, AE8.0.2.27

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

    Hi
    We figured out the problem
We were trying to “replace footage” from the “finder” and not the actual file.
    Operator error.
    Thanks
