    Hi

    I have FCP 5

    17″ Apple mac

I’m cutting a :30 movie trailer….whenever I attempt to render a clip it tells me to clear up space in the RENDER MANAGER…I’ve cleared everything in there but I still get that “error message.” i’ve restarted my computer but still no luck…

    My Space:

    Capacity: 93.04 GB
    Available” 1.64 GB

    Any advice?

    Thanks a bunch!

THE FOLLOWING COMES FROM THE KEN STONE WEBSITE:
“Over 5,000 years ago Confucius wrote: ‘If you are toiling away, you have changed nothing and FCP heads South on you, [starts behaving in strange ways] then it is time to trash your FCP Preferences.’ ”

Click the following link for instructions.

    https://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/trashing_fcp_prefs.html

A great way to do this is to use “FCP Rescue” a free Apple Script that will Trash the Preferences for you (and restore nearly all of your user settings afterward).
There are versions for FCP (Pro) & FCE (Express) and a new one for FCP 5.

Download these free Apple Scripts at

    https://fcprescue.andersholck.com/
    or
    https://pistolerapost2.com/fcprescue/

This is one FCP tip that has helped in solving hundreds of “odd” problems.

If you are down to 1.6 gig on your drive then you need more space. This is dangerously low. I assume you are using your system drive to store media and render files. A better management of media would have original and render files on a different drive to OS and FCP software.

You will need a lot more space on your drive if you are unable to plug in an external drive to use for renders and media. Trashing prefs and restarting the computer is not likely to have any effect.
