i have a 6 minute video with lots of clips in it but cant seem to render it

when i do avi it just freezes on 0% with the elapsed time and time remaining constntly nicreasing.

wmv just closes or says close applications as its low on memory even though i have a external hard drive with almost 150 gb free

mov freezes on 10 % and mpg just closes vegas

im using sony vegas 8 on a vista 32 bit operating system with 2.9 gb ram

is there certain render settings i need (hd quality but for youtube) and is there a reason why this is happening.

    thank you for any hel

This can happen for a variety of reasons but one is when Vegas doesn’t like the codec of the source files. What format is your source? Where did it come from? What codec does it use?

If you are rendering for YouTube, try the Sony AVC render type. It will produce an MPEG4 file with excellent quality for YouTube.

my files are mpeg4 but some went offline so i converted those ones to avi as you suggested kindly using avidemux

i can now not render on anything. just tried that sony mpg one but it closes and says error message “an error occured-an exception has been made” then just a long script of jibberish and it closes after pressing okay

Vegas Pro 8.0 and MP4 editing aren’t the best combination. Vegas Pro 9 got better and Vegas Pro 10 is even better at it. You might want to download the Vegas Pro 10 trial and see if it can render the project.

Also what codec did you use for the AVI files? Be sure to stay away from codecs like DivX or Xvid.
