I’ve been trying to render my project for several days now. I’ve tried everything. First, I was getting memory errors, then system errors, now I’m getting “The reason for the error could not be determined”.

Ok, so first, I backed up my os, then installed a brand new copy of XP SP3. I then reinstalled Vegas and DVD Architect, and since some of the footage was brought over from my Mac, I installed QuickTime Pro. Nothing else. I re-opened the project, tried to render using the same Blu-Ray settings I had done previously which had been working up till three days ago.

But I keep getting the errors. A few minutes ago, “The system is low on memory”.

I’m on deadline, and it looks like I’m not going to make it.

    WTH is going on?

What version of Vegas? What is the format/codec used by the source files? How much memory do you have?

    Hi, John–

Thank you for getting back to me.

It’s SV 9, the source is AVCHD, and I have 2GB of ram.

However, I finally had to call Sony TS and they did have the solution. They first removed all 0 use files (I think that was the ultimate cause), then had me render directly to the C drive rather than the project folder.

This solved the issue and I was finally able to render out the project — not in time unfortunately. But at least it did render.

It’s interesting that zero use files affected the render. I’ll have to remember that. Glad you got it working.

Glad I could offer a bit of information your way 😉

In case I don’t have any more questions on this project, I just want to say I could never have gotten through this without your help.

    So my thanks.

    Best,
    Jeffrey
