  Can’t relink files

  I was editing with files stored on an external USB3 device on a Macbook Pro. All of my files were there and working last night. When I opened FCPX today there were numerous files that were missing although some were there. In the event I have several projects. Most of the thumbnails are red with the yellow triangle that says “missing camera” I’ve tried to use the relinking procedure listed in the help, but when I do no files show up in the box that says Original Files there are none of the files that need to be reconnected. Any suggestions to solve this?
