  • Can’t record audio that well, and playback pops and crackles!

HI, I am recording a video for church and today, spent most of the day, trying to record guitar and vocals, got 4tracks done, but on playback ,super noisy and before that it just refused to do anything. Does anybody have a tried and true method for recording?

I use Sony Vegas Pro 11 but I do use a Tascam US-122 MKii usb interface which I am beginning to despise as I had a decent soundcard before….for some reason, USB will work great one day and the next, forget it, has something to do with the loading as I have a few techies that know the score. Any assistance appreciated, tx. RD

Hi Derek. Does the sampling rate of your recorded Audio match your sampling rate of your VegasPro Project?

Yes, sample rate, matches, met a techie at lunch, who told me he experiences this a lot too, and you know what he attributes it to….USB problems, only a few ports and they don’t share well. He told me a friend of his is really angry that Micrsoft and all the hardware boys didn’t get together and fix this obvious snag. I am going back to another recording interface after this project….oh, this also messes up my typing text in Sony Vegas Pro and Microsoft Word, too much jumping around going on….but, always a but, sometimes it works well, of course, it always acts up when you are almost finished with the day’s work on your project, true, true!!!!

    Hi Derek

It would seem that any version of Windows running at 64bits doesn’t like your Tascam US-122 MKii.

Import your audio via a computer running the OS at 32bits. Save your audio and take that file to your 64bit machine.

You should have no more snap, crackle and pops. Those happen during the transfer.

As a footnote, make sure you have the latest firmware:

    Cheers !
