  • Can’t Re-Open PPRO2 project – It crashes down!?!?! WHY??? V.I.P.!!!

    Hey there, milk lovers…

I have an un-belivible problem, that never occured to me since using PPRO… The same procedure always worked just fine. Soooo:

About 2 months ago I’ve finished the “rough” editing of 45 minutes long documentary that was an exam both for me and my fellow collegue from Drama Arts Academy…

It wen’t great, we recived the highest score in last 5 years and they wanna print the movie on the film and send it to different festivals…including “Student Oscars”….

Only, we had to change credits, do some picture tuning (with movie effects) and most important of all audio remastering…

However I opend my editing station, which I didn’t use meanwhile, reinstalled Windows Image (maybe the biggest mistake), added PPRO2 and tried to open the project…

All the files are where they were, all disks have same letter, none of hardware has been changed….

    NOW!
When I try to open it, it always asks me for the same 4 different files locations (I mannualy show it the path) and project kind of opens…. then it chrashes down instantly with letting me know that ADOBE HAS ENCOUNTERED MISTAKE AND MUST SHOT DOWN…

From one AUTO-SAVE file I’ve succeeded to open it (all Media ON), it was positioned on working sequence….

and that is as far as I ever came….

EACH AND EVERY TIME when I try to open the “FINAL SEQUENCE” where our final version of the movie is, with at least 6 video and 5 audio channels, titles etc), PPRO instantly crashes down… over and over…. (trying to open the copy of crached project each time).

We, of course, do have the final or master copy of the film on DV cassete, but that means all recapturing, finding all shots again, mixing all audio again…. It would be easier to edit the entire movie from the begginig… Which we must do anyway, just with pattern (this master is just like puzzle photo and I have to put together all the puzlles again),,,,,

Please tell me there is some way of working around this problem!

    THnx!

    V.

    Hello,

It sounds like a possible bad installation of Windows and Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0. You say you instalked from an image. Have you tired a fresh install of Microsoft Windows XP, motherbaord drivers, Windows updates, then Adobe Premeire Pro? Can you also try loading the clips into a seperate system?

I had a similar problem and it was down to installation error. I re-installed XP and installed Adobe Production Studio and all went fine. ALso you could possibly have a corrupt project file on Premiere Pro 2.0.

    Let me know your findings?

    Thanks,

    Leo

Yeap, new the clean installation of Windows SP2 took care of everything….

I knew it must be connected to it, but I was avoiding the total re-intall, cause on this image I have allready installed Premiere 6.5 with important FFX movie effects, PPRO 1.5, cause of Magic Movie Film Effects, AfterEffects 6 cause of great chromakey plugin….

And on top of all of that I used to install Adobe Production Suite with PPRo2, Audtion2, After Effects7, PhotoShop9, Encore 2 etc…

It worken many times (almost before every new project I would go and run that immage and just install Adobe Production Suite with the freshiest versions..

But this time after I did it, it just faild to open 2 months old (not touched ) project – which is very complicated 45 minutes documentary with 15 hours of footage and tones of keyframing for sound, and lot of music and many transitions and Colour Correction effects etc….

So, I guess it just needed a freah jung WinXP SP2 (Yeah, the old Image was SP1, so everytime I had to update it to SP2 before installing PPRO2…. But, now I’ve istalled directly SP2, so I am sure that is better and more stabile sollution then updating anything!:)

Thnx anyway!!!! You were absolutely right!!!!

    Hello,

Glad it works, you can also make a custom XP install CD-Rom for a free piece of software called N-Lite. I use it to get my original XP PRO then intergrate SP2, and all my drivers, and WIndows updates. Then I can install and all my updates are done and installed at the one install.

Glad the re-install worked well for you. I have to do a re-install as wlel later.

    Thanks,

    Leo
