  • Can’t precisely mark in/out points on cuts

Posted by Stephen Hill on March 30, 2016 at 4:08 pm

Just updated to AVID 8.5. I find myself at times not able to place precise mark points on cuts…I’m either one frame in front of or behind the cut. It’s like my tools are dealing with frames…but my timeline is only about fields.

    I can drag/extend clips to precise locations…but I can’t mark.

    Projects are 720p/59.94

So you park on a frame, mark IN, and it doesn’t mark an IN point that includes that frame…but rather the one before or after it? Same with the out? That makes no sense.

Uninstall and reinstall might be in order.

    you are correct…

I can rewind to the start of a clip…the indicator is sitting correctly at the start of the clip…If i step the indicator back one frame…it looks like it’s stepping back 2 frames…and then when I step the indicator 1 frame forward it steps forward one frame (to the frame it just skipped) then when I step the indicator forward again…it skips over the head of the clip.

Again…it’s like my timeline is working with fields…and my tools are working with frames.

The trim feature is also real buggy when I’m zoomed in all the way….

    Time to contact AVID.

Install was supervised by AVID (10 boxes)…all boxes seem to be behaving the same.

OH! There’s a setting you can enable to have it step through fields. You might have enabled that. Not sure where it is…I’ll look around.

I think I found it…under the format tap…we were editing under the 29.97 timebase…changed it to the 59.94 timebase…seems to be acting better.
