  can’t “patch” an audio track, but video patch ok?

  Doing work on a project of unknown origin in Premiere CC and have a a/v clip ready to edit into a timeline but find I can’t assign the 1 track of source audio to a empty target track, strangely the video track of this same source clip readily “patches” to any video track in the timeline I want, but not audio. It’s selected and not locked, I’ve done about a month of Premiere editing and never ran into this, any ideas?
