Can’t paste mocha shape to AE
Posted by Louis Hou on July 3, 2014 at 9:23 amI use Mocha AE built in after effects CS6 to track shapes.
I click “export shape data” and paste it in AE, but the mask stays static.
I tried it again with Mocha pro, it didn’t work either.
Thanks in advance!

July 10, 2014 at 10:22 pmAre you using edit>paste or edit>paste>mocha mask?
Try pasting on to a solid.
If you view the surface on this particular track is it animated? Can you export tracking?
If this does not help, try contacting imagineer support:

July 11, 2014 at 7:18 amI tried both ways to paste shape data.
I tried it on a solid layer but it didn’t work either.
Yes, it is animated inside mocha, but the mask stays static inside After Effects.
However, I can export tracking data just fine.
P.S. I pasted the data on to a txt file to find that the figures are relatively the same.
I also tried mocha Pro which didn’t work either.

July 11, 2014 at 4:11 pmSounds like a corrupt layer or project. Does this happen on any mocha project?
I would advise sending a copy to Imagineer’s support to help get it sorted out.

January 29, 2015 at 3:46 pmSame here! Very infuriating. Paste and Paste Mocha Mask do similar things, mask stays static.

January 29, 2015 at 4:00 pmIt sounds like your shape is almost certainly pasting off of your timeline. This is usually caused by long clips in AE being brought into mocha and only tracked in small sections. You can try trimming your in and out points in mocha or looking for the keyframes on the timeline to fix this. You also might consider looking into mocha import+ for AE, it fixes a lot of these sorts of in and out point issues automatically for you. We don’t make it, but mamo world does. https://aescripts.com/mochaimport/
Take the layer you pasted your data on to, tick the menus down until you can see where your keyframes should be, if you see no keyframes, drag the clip right or left until you do see them. It’s that what you’re tracking is much smaller than your clip in AE.
However, it could also be a project misalignment problem. When you paste or import your mocha data into the final composite or edit, make sure you are pasting or loading your data in at the first frame of the clip, otherwise your data will not line up.
Project settings such as frame rate, dimensions and pixel aspect ratio must be match between your mocha project and your destination software. Make sure these values match the settings in your compositor or editor and inside of mocha, otherwise your tracking data will not match when you export it.
If your are using Adobe After Effects, the target layer you are pasting data to should also be the same size as your AE composition. A good After Effects troubleshooting tip: create a new solid that is the same size as your composition. Paste your track or roto shape data to this layer. If it does not line up, the issue is mostly likely a project mismatch.
Please let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to help. Also, you can always email mocha support and we will help you. https://www.imagineersystems.com/support/contact-support/

January 29, 2015 at 4:51 pmYep, keyframes were pasted at wrong frames. I just shifted them and it clicked. Annoying but workable. Thanks!

July 13, 2015 at 6:25 amHello Mary
I am just learning Mocha Ae. I just tracked a moving laptop…. copied to my clipboard and pasted
the data to a jpeg in ae. You can see the data keyframes in the transform and corner pin effects but
after I paste the data the jpeg disappears from my screen. Why is this happening? Thanks.Lew

July 21, 2015 at 1:34 amHey Lew, sorry we missed this question last week!
Are the dimensions of your insert the same size as the composition?
