  • Can’t open sequence due to General Error

    Hey all,

I’m running FCP7 on a 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro with 3GB RAM. I have a sequence that’s about 1:30 with two types of media: video captured on a Flip Slide HD and JPEG photos exported from Lightroom. For some reason, it won’t let me open the sequence I was working on, instead giving me an error message “General Error” and then another: “Error: Out of Memory.” Any ideas as to why this could be?

    Thanks everyone!

Reboot and try to restore project from auto-saved one.

Worked for me! Thanks! Do you know if there’s any way to prevent this happening in the future? It seems to occur on and off. Thanks again,

    Alec

This happened to me once and after I resized the Jpeg photos to something smaller that will be just nice for the resolution of the sequence I am working on, it didn’t happen again.

If the photos are too huge then maybe you could resize it or convert it to PNG files.

This is if other things such as restarting FCP or the Mac doesn’t work.
