  • can’t load files from HVX-200

My camera person shot 1080/24p on a panasonic HVX-200 (version 4 software)
He transferred the files off the p2 cards to a firewire drive and delivered them to me but I can’t see them in either QT or FCP — I hear the audio. and it loads into my viewer with no error message but with four channels of audio. But a black picture.

He showed me that the files are working on his laptop with FCP-6

I am using FCP 5.1.4 (non intel G5) OS 10.4.11

I am 99.9% certain we have done this before without a problem but perhaps something has changed??

Regardless, I should be able to work with DVCPRO HD shouldn’t I? Should I expect a better solution from my camera person than telling me I need to upgrade?

I plan to upgrade next month but my client wants this edited today.

Additional info: when I get the file info from the finder it says that the codec is DVCPRO HD (1080i60), Integer (Big Endian), Timecode.

I downloaded voltaic (in case somehow I got AVCHD files) but it did not recognize these files.
