Can’t import optimized media
The project I am working on is actually in FCP7, however I have footage from a Panasonic AC8 which needs to be imported using FCPX (log and transfer doesn’t work with this camera).
I want to have clips with the maximum quality, and therefore have selected “Create optimized media” in the media import window, as per Larry Jordan’s tutorial:
https://www.larryjordan.biz/media-in-fcp-x/
However the files that are produced are H.264, not ProRes 422. I’ve done some tests, capturing clips as native, optimized and proxy and they all come out the same: same file size, H.264, and same low bit rate – 3 MB/s. I was wondering if it was in the Preferences, but in Preferences/Import I have “Transcoding: Create Optimized Media” selected.
I admit I’m new to FCPX – actually only started today – but I thought following Larry’s tutorial would sort this out.
Can anyone help please?Richard Jordan
