I have a Sony camera that saves movies in MPG format. When I import the MPGs to Sony Vegas platinum 9.0, the audio comes through, but the video is RED SQUARES with NO VIDEO.

What am I doing wrong? Sony to Sony should work, no?

That seems to mean that the video codec needed to decode
the video source is not installed on your computer….
So more importantly, what camera is that?

SONY to SONY……nope sorry the software world and the hardware world do not work hand in hand in development production. Os it does not surprise me that you have this problem. Find out what codec the MPGS are using and then acquire them. If I import my camcorder discs it converts them all to mpgs and breaks up the chapters using the rec on off events as markers. When you import the clips will they play in the project media window? If so then it could be a memory problem.

I don’t know why it did it, but it doesn’t do it any more. Strange though. It was a Sony DSC- something – newer.

    Thanks for the help!
