that’s weird. surely AE can import mp3, only doesn’t like it that much, but it works, or it should be. mayby you missing some codec. If you wanna be sure, download the “K-lite” codec pack (google it and you will find). it has the newest and most usefull codeces for free to play audio and video.(and good ones)
after you restart your pc, if it still doesn;t work try reinstall AE mayby or just simple covert to .wav as stated above with for example
audio converter plus, or you can try premiere pro as wel (export audio only)Greetz

July 20, 2008 at 12:59 amfrom my experience, any mp3 can cause disaster. There’s hundreds of mp3 encoders with hundreds of codecs. There’s even the dreaded variable bitrate which can make everything lose syc. and even crash render farms.
If you installed a fresh version of windows, never installed any 3rd party codec, and imported a mp3 from windows media player you ripped yourself, it may have the slight chance of actually working. but then again, why tempt fate?
btw. to read what codecs video and audio secretly use, google and download a fourcc reader. Each codec has a 4 digit code hidden in their belly.
