Posted by Mark Palmos on June 21, 2011 at 6:17 pmSo….
WTF guys, FCPx cannot import motion clips??? .motn files are greyed out!
I see you can create templates in Motion, but I do not see a way to make them available in fcpx.
ooh, cool, you can import iMovie projects, that’s great, my mom will love that.

June 21, 2011 at 6:47 pmYou cannot import Motn clips directly but you can save any motion project as a template- better if you start as an effect, generator, or transition and then save as template. That’s pretty much the only way to get a motion project in currently.

June 21, 2011 at 9:01 pmI cannot believe this. I spend and hour trying to import my motion files. I like the new workflow of FCPX but fail to comprehend the amount of stupidity on apple’s side required to forget the ability to import from motion.

June 27, 2011 at 6:09 pmI just cracked open Motion 5 and thought “now we’re getting somewhere – this is where I can control my effects properly” but can you really not send a clip to and from FCP X to Motion 5? Really?

June 27, 2011 at 7:00 pmyep, you really can’t.
I am changing to Premiere pro which can play AE clips directly in the timeline… Apple have botched this one up badly, and the missing features are not all, the whole paradigm is flawed IMO.
