  • Can’t import .jpgs to timeline?

Posted by Julie Duran on January 18, 2010 at 7:04 pm

I’m working on a project for school, and for some reason, Vegas isn’t letting me use not only .jpgs but any image files. Actually, .gifs work, but I really don’t wanna have to convert all my .jpgs to that..

When I click and drag an image from the explorer onto the timeline, the little black no symbol appears as my cursor. When I do File>Import Media and choose an image, a message appears saying:

Warning: An error occurred while opening one or more files.
    An unexpected error has occurred.

And then when I click on “Details>>,” it just says “File K:\Pictures\crusades.jpg could not be opened,” or whatever the file name may be. Is there an easy way to fix this? Thanks.

    Julie,

Can you post a JPEG and have us try it? Not sure, but Vegas should and does import JPEG images. What software did you use to create the Jpeg?

    Thanks,

    T

    Hi!

I have similar problem with Sony Vegas 9.0c build 895 (64 bit version).
Help tells me that i am free to add any kind of images, but actually it successfully deals only with TGA and GIF.

I’ve tried any sorts of jpeg\jfif\jpg\jpeg2000\bmp\png files with different format variation but in information string of Vegas Explorer i see only “Video: stream information could not be determined”.

I wonder if there any conflict between image codecs? (I have few image processing applications on my workstation).

    Please help to find solution!

    Hi people!

I’ve spend the whole day tring to solve this problem and – “It’s a kind of magic” (C) – it has been solved!!!

I suppose Vegas uses .NET framework to gain access to image filters (for loading it into the project) so i’ve downloaded the last version of full package of .NET 3.0 redistributables from Microsoft’s site and installed it.

Also i’ve tried to install DVD architect, but installation failed because if version inconsistence – DVD architect distributives were for x86 and i have x64 OS architecture.

So it works fine for all kinds of image types, i sure reason was that my OS have preinstalled version of .NET 3.0 with cutted features, instllation of last .NET release fixed it.

Hope this will help you! Regards!
