  • Can’t hear my audio??!!

The audio I’m importing into After Effects works in all other applications. It’s an acceptable MP3. I’ve tried other audio files that are known to work, and I can’t hear those, either. All help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Adam

    Hey Adam,

I would guess that your having trouble with sound in AE because you are using an mp3. For whatever reason, After Effects hates mp3 files. In fact really it only likes uncompressed audio to work with.

I would recommend converting your mp3 to a .wav file first and then importing.

    Hope that helps 🙂

    Cheers,
    Brad

i would agree, use .wav files, but you should be able to hear the sound, it may just sound bad…

where are you not hearing the audio, in preview or final render?

if it is in the render, then you probably did not render with audio on. when you choose composition>make movie (or add to render queue), you need to click the output module and set it to render audio (option at the bottom).

if it is in the preview it could be a couple things… check the preferences>audio hardware and audio mapping. make sure both are set to something you can hear. system default in/out is usually a good option if you can hear your system alert beep through your computer.

also in composition>preview, make sure the ‘audio’ has a check by it. if it doesn’t, select it so it will. this toggles the audio on and off for previews and can sometimes get switched off.

Hi all. I’m a newby to After Effects, but I’m doing okay.
I can’t hear my audio (wav) files. Only in preview. Once I hit the space bar to play my clip in the comp, it plays, but no audio comes out. The “audio” panel doesn’t even show anything. What do I do? Please help. I read previous threads, but it didn’t solve my problem. Please help. Thanks.
