  • Can’t get video rendered.

    Hi.
For educational purposes, I made a video file out of a DVD with Handbrake. The resulting video was a mp4 file, wich i couldn’t import to FCP. I re-encoded the mp4 video with MpegStreamclip, and got a quicktime video with H.264 codec at 23,98 frame rate, 720×368, square pixel. I was able to import the file into FCP, and set the sequence to match the imported video properties so the program didn’t ask me to render the video in the timeline. But when i add any effect or transition to the video, FCP won’t execute the render. The render status window pops up and then it closes and the video keeps unrendered.
Could anyone tell me what seems to be the problem? I tried FCP 5.0.4 in PowerMac G5 and FCP 5.1 in Macmini Intel Core Duo and it’s just the same.
    Thanks in advance.

You got it all wrong. Rip your DVD from MPEG Streamclip and make a DV-NTSC (720×480) file. That’s what FCP likes.

I’m having the same problem…I am editing footage I shot with a digital camera with the h.264 compression. I tried to reset scratch disks and make sure all types of rendering is checked in the sequence menu dropdown box. This is so frustrating…does anyone have a solution for this???
