  • Can’t get effects to render correctly in Vegas Pro 9

Hey everyone, I am trying to remake an intro I did for my gaming network a while ago but for whatever reason the effects will not render correctly for me now.

Instead of using the media generated background the rendered video always uses a single tone across the text instead of the mgb used in Vegas and the rendered video looks vastly different from the render window in Vegas.

    How it should look:

    How it looks after rendering:

If you need the project file or settings or whatever, let me know and I will post them.

Do you have your preview window set to Best (Full) when adjusting the FX? Some FX look different when the preview window is changed from Best, Good, Preview, Draft. This could be your problem. Toggle the preview settings to see.

The snapshot taken above (image 1) is from the view window with the Best/Full setting selected.

John, I am about to drop an even weirder bomb on you now. Just for the heck of it I rendered out the project in several other formats instead of just SAVC and when rendering it out as a wmv the effects work properly. I made no changes to the project and rendered again in SAVC and the same thing as in the original post happened.

I guess I will just render it in super high quality wmv (using my SAVC settings) and call it even. I really do not know why it is not working right.

OK, so are you rendering in Best quality or Good quality? This is set in the render template.

    What is SAVC?

Sony AVC (maybe Sony Advanced Video Codec?), I have been using it for all my videos since its renders out to mp4 and has the best quality, but apparently there are bugs with it when it comes to generated media and the dodge setting.

Ah… Ok. I can’t imagine why you would get different results with Sony AVC than any other format.
