  • Can’t get a ‘Duration’ Column in my EDL on Avid 2021.9

Posted by Ben Rogan on April 7, 2022 at 12:22 pm

Hi all, I’m creating an EDL using the List Tool in Avid 2021.9.0, but I can’t figure out how to get a ‘duration’ column in the EDL. Any tips on how to do this? I’ve tried a few output formats but no luck as of yet. Thank you!

    Hey Rogan

You will need to choose an output format that includes the duration column. Some common output formats that include a duration column are CMX 3600, GVG 100, and File/EDL. Be sure to check the settings for the output format you choose to make sure that the duration column is included.

    Best regards

    Hello

To add a duration column in an EDL using the List Tool in Avid 2021.9.0, follow these steps:

In the List Tool, go to the File menu and select Output.

In the Output dialog box, select the desired output format (e.g., CMX 3600).

In the Columns section, click on the Duration checkbox to add it to the Selected Columns list.

Click OK to save the output format.

Back in the List Tool, select the sequence or clip you want to create the EDL for.

Go to the File menu and select Export.

In the Export dialog box, select the output format you just created and click OK.

Choose a location to save the EDL and click Save.

The resulting EDL should include a duration column for each edit in the sequence or clip.
