Can’t export to tape CS3 Mac, but need to
Posted by Nathan Quattrini on June 17, 2009 at 1:04 pmSo apparently Premiere CS3 can`t export to tape on the Mac, huge problem. I need to get my 2 shorts onto a tape before Saturday for a screening. How can I go about doing this? Heeeeelp please! :S

June 17, 2009 at 1:42 pmYou don’t give much details, but assuming you’re trying to export via firewire, you could export a QuickTime file and use iMovie to export to tape.

June 17, 2009 at 2:34 pm…or you could supply some details like how are you doing it, how is it cabled, what are the project settings, what format are you attempting to export to, what is happening when you try it…etc.
…you know. Stuff that will allow us to type something helpful.

June 18, 2009 at 1:12 amUmm…Premiere on the Mac has the option permanently greyed out, so I am not doing much to do it. I have a Canon XH-A1 and a firewire cable. Not much to it, just need to get the films from the computer onto the mini dv tape any way possible. Is iMovie free?

June 18, 2009 at 4:01 pmAh…you are trying to export HDV then…(this is the sort of detail that helps us)
Unfortunately, apparently HDV export to tape isn’t possible on a Mac…I don’t have a clue as to why, but apparently that’s the deal.
On Windows, I believe you have to go out through the Media Encoder, so even on Windows, it’s a pain in the neck…HDV really isn’t designed to be a mastering format of course.
Do you have any other format options allowed for submitting your files for exhibition?
